Answer:

find the vol. of cube by formula a^3

then find the vol. of soap cakes i.e. 8 x 5 x 4 then finally divide the cube's vol. by soap cake's vol. and get the answer

400 soap cakes of size 8 cm x 5 cm x 4 cm be packed in a cube of size 40 cm

Volume of the big cube where smaller cubes are to be placed = (Edge)^3

∴ Volume = (40cm)^3 = 64000cm^3.                                  [Edge length = 40cm]

Volume of each small soap cake = (8 × 5 × 4)cm^3 = 160cm^3

As the 3 sides of soap cake are 8cm, 5cm and 4cm.

So, number of small soap cakes fitted in the big cube

= (Volume of big cube) ÷ (Volume of 1 small soap cake)

= (64000) ÷ (160)

= 400

So, there can be 400 small soap cubes be fitted in the big cube.
