Given :

  • Length of plot (L) = 100 m
  • Breadth of plot (B) = 80 m
  • Length of Path = 4 m

To Find :

  • Area of Remaining portion

Solution :

We are given that the length of rectangular plot is 100 m, breadth of plot is 80 m. And there is a path all around the rectangular plot. So, we have to subtract twice of path (4m) from length as well as breadth to calculate area of Remaining Portion.

After Removing Path :

  • length = 100 - 2(4) = 100 - 8 = 92
  • Breadth = 80 - 2(4) = 80 - 8 = 72

So, now we will take length as 92 m and breadth as 72 m

Use formula for Area of Triangle

\implies \sf{Area \: = \: length \: \times \: breadth} \\ \\ \implies \sf{Area \: = \: 92 \: \times \: 72} \\ \\ \implies \sf{Area \: = \: 6624}

\therefore Area of remaining Rectangular plot is 6624

Given :

  • The length of the rectangular plot is 100 m and its breath is 80 m.

  • All round outside of a rectangular plot there is a path 4 m wide.

To find :

  • The area of the portion remaining for garden =?

Step-by-step explanation :

Suppose ABCD is the rectangular plot. There is a 4 m broad path all inside it.

The figure PQRS made by the plot and road together is also a rectangle.

Length of rectangle ABCD = 100 m.

Breadth of rectangle ABCD = 80 m

Area of rectangle ABCD = length x breadth.

Substituting the values in the above formula, we get,

= 100 x 80

= 8000.

Therefore, Area of rectangle ABCD = 8000 m².

There is a 4 m broad path on each side of the rectangle plot.

∴ The length of rectangle PQRS = 100 - (4 + 4) = 92 m.

And the breadth of rectangle PQRS = 80 - (4 + 4) = 72 m.

The area of rectangle PQRS = length x breadth

Substituting the values in the above formula, we get,

= 92 × 72

= 6624.

So, The area of rectangle PQRS = 6624 m².

Therefore, Area of the remaining portion for garden = 6624 m².
