15. In the figure shown alongside the length &
breadth of big rectangle is 24 cm and 20 cm
respectively and width of shaded strip is 2 cms.
Find the area of shaded region.

step by step solution:

Length of big rectangle = 24 cm

Breadth of big rectangle = 20cm

Area of big rectangle = l×b

= 24×20

= 480 sq.cm

Length of small rectangle=24-(2+2)=20cm

Breadth of small rectangle=20-(2+2)=16cm

Area of small rectangle = l×b

=20×16= 320 sq.cm

Area of shaded= Area of big - Area of small
