It will take 40 days for 10 men to build a wall 80 m long, 4 m high, and 0.5 m thick

Given,

CASE 1)

no. of men = 15
length = 120 m
height = 2 m
breadth = 0.5 m
no of days = 20

CASE 2)

no. of men = 10
length = 80 m
height = 4 m
breadth = 0.5 m

To Find,

no. of days taken in CASE 2

Solution,

Let M be the no. of men, D be the no. of days, and W be the volume of wall built

W = l×b×h

Then we can deduce the following relationship for cases 1 and 2

\frac{M_1 \times D_1}{W_1} = \frac{M_2 \times D_2}{W_2}

\frac{M_1 \times D_1}{l_1 \times b_1 \times h_1} = \frac{M_2 \times D_2}{l_2 \times b_2 \times h_2}

\frac{15 \times 20}{120 \times 2 \times 0.5} = \frac{10 \times D_2}{80 \times 4 \times 0.5}

\frac{300}{120} = \frac{10D_2}{160}

D_2 = 40

It will take 40 days.
