15 men can do a piece of work in x days. 21 women can do the same piece of work in x-4 days . 35 men can do the piece of work in y days and 63 women can do the piece of work in y-4 days . find the value of x

The value of x is 28.

From the given information, we form two equations by considering the work of men and women separately.

As we know: Number of people* Number of days = Total work

For women:

21(x-4) = 63( y-4)

We get, 21x- 63y = -168--------(i)

For men:

15x = 35 y

So x= 7y/3 -----------(ii)

Now solving equation (i) and (ii) we get:

49y - 63y = -168

Or, y= 12

So, x= 7y/3 = 28.
