One way to find the 5 rational numbers between two numbers is by making the denominator same and the another method is averaging method .In this , you take the average of both the given numbers as 1 /4 + 1/ 2/ 2 = 3/ 8 Now, 3/ 8 will lie between 1 /4 and1 /2 . Similarly, we can find another number by taking the average of 1/ 4 and 3/ 8 and so on. i. Do we get same rational number in averaging method and making the denominator same method. ii. What do you think is the advantage of using averaging method over the other (i.e. making the denominator same method ) iii. Can you find 4 rational number between 1/ 4 and 3/ 8 using making the denominator same method .If yes, find the numbers. iv. Can you guess how many rational number will be there between 1/ 4 and 3/ 8 ?
