SOLUTION :

Given:

Number of pastries donated = 15

Number of biscuit packets donated  = 12

First we need to find the HCF of 15 and 12 to find the required no of boxes to contain equal number pastries and biscuits.

HCF of 15 and 12 ,by applying Euclid’s division lemma (a = bq + r).

15 = 12 x 1 + 3

12 = 3 × 4 + 0

Here remainder is zero .

HCF of 15 and 12 = 3

Therefore, No. of boxes required = 3

Each box will contain pastries = 15/3 = 5

Each box will contain biscuits = 12/3 = 4

Hence , each box will contain = 5 pastries and 4  biscuit packets.
