Correct Question

Shyam bought a refrigerator for 5,000. He paid 1/10 of the price in cash and the rest in 12 equal monthly instalments. How much had he to pay each month ?

Given:

  • Price of refrigerator is Rs 5000
  • He paid 1/10 of price of refrigerator in cash.
  • He paid rest of price of refrigerator in 12 equal monthly instalments.

To Find:

  • How much had he to pay each month?

Solution: Amount paid in cash by Shyam = 1/10 of price of refrigerator.

\implies{\rm } Amount paid in cash = 1/10 \times 5000

\implies{\rm } Amount paid in cash = Rs 500

He paid Rs 500 in cash to shopkeeper but still he need to pay =

  • Total price of refrigerator Amount paid in cash

\implies{\rm } Remaining money to pay = Rs (5000 500) = Rs 4500

Number of monthly equal instalments is 12

Therefore, Amount of each instalment =

  • Remaining money to pay / Number of instalments

\implies{\rm } Amount of each instalment = 4500/12

\implies{\rm } Rs 375

Hence, Shyam had to pay Rs 375 per month.
