Solution:-

x/3+y/4=5x/6-y/8

or,4x/3+y=40x/6-y

or,1/3+y=10/6-y

or,30+10y=6-y

or,10y+y=6-30

or,11y=-24

ANSWER :

\frac{x}{3}  +  \frac{y}{4}  = (4 )\:  \:  \:  \: ........1  \\  \frac{5x}{6}  -  \frac{y}{8}  = (4 )\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: .......2

(1) multiply by 4

(2) multiply by 8

 \frac{4x}{3}  + y = 16  \:  \: .......(3)\\  \frac{20x}{3}  - y = 32 \:  \: .....(4)

solve (3)+(4)

 \frac{24x}{3}  = 48 \\ 8x = 48 \\ x = 5 \:  \:  \: ..........(5)

solve (5) in (3)

 \frac{4(5)}{3}  + y = 16 \\  \frac{20}{3}  + y = 16 \\ 20 + 3y = 48  \\ 3y = 28 \\ y = \frac{28}{3}
