Given info : The average of the marks of 5 children in a subject is 40. If 4 of those children got 41 marks each.

To find : The mark has been gotten by 5th child..

solution : The average of the mark of 5 children is 40.

so, total marks gotten by 5 children = 40 × 5 = 200

4 of those children got 41 marks each.

so, total marks gotten by, first 4 children = 4 × 41 = 164

the mark gotten by 5th child = total marks of 5 children - total marks of first 4 children

= 200 - 164 = 36

Therefore the mark gotten by 5th child is 36.
