15.The earth attracts every object with a certain force and this force
depends on the mass (m) of the object and the acceleration due to
gravity(g). The weight of an object is the force with which it is attracted
towards the earth.

A body of mass 10 kg is taken to the centre of earth. What will be its
mass and weight there ?

Solution :-

Mass will remain same at any place in this universe.

  • Because, the mass will remain the same since the matter in it will be the same 10 kg.

The weight at the previous place = 10 × 9.8 = 98 N

                                                                                                   ...{g = 9.8m/s²}

  • BUT WEIGHT CHANGES PLACE TO PLACE!

→ As we know,

  • g = 0 at the center of the Earth.

⇒ Weight = mg = 10kg * 0 = 0

⇒ Mass = 10kg = constant
