Solution:

Let the numbers are x and y ,

According to the question:

→ x+y = pq

→ x-y = pq/7

→ 2x = 8pq/7

→ x = 4pq/7

So,

• y = 3pq/7

Therefore,

H.C.F of x and y = (pq/7).

Hence,

• H.C.F of x and y = pq/7.
