To check whether 1 is a zero or not , we will substitute x=1 in the polynomial, and if we get the answer zero , then 1 is a zero , else it is not .

p(1)=2(1)³+(1)²-5(1)+2

=2(1)+(1)-5+2

=2+1-5+2

=3-3

=0

We got zero , so 1 is a zero of the polynomial .
