It is double displacement reaction

Double displacement reaction

In double displacement reaction is a type of chemical reaction in which the ions exchange there places to form a new compound

example

Na2+SO4+BaCl2=BaSO4+2NaCl

In the above reaction there is sodium sulphate which combines with Barium chloride to form Barium sulphate and sodium chloride. In this reaction there is exchange of ions between reactants that's why are called double displacement reaction

Why is it different from displacement reaction?

First of all we have to know what is displacement reaction. In this reaction one element displaced or removed another element from its solution

Like

AB+CD=AC+BD

In double displacement reaction, two displacement take place to complete the reaction

In this reaction

H2S+CuSO4=H2SO4+CuS

Here So4displaces or remove S and S remove Cu from its solution thats why this reaction is double displacement reaction
