Sodium chloride (NaCl) and water (H2O) are produced, when sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid react with each other.

• The acidic substance and basic substance rapidly reacts with each other,in order to form a salt and water. This reaction is popularly known as the neutralization reaction.

• Now, sodium hydroxide is also a base and and hydrochloric acid is obviously an acid. And,when they react with each other, the neutralization reaction happens to produce sodium chloride, water as the products of the reaction.

• Chemical equation :

NaOH + HCl = NaCl + H2O
