Ragging can be termed as the tradition of bullying junior and newly admitted students by senior students at educational institutes such as schools, colleges, and universities. The new students are made to do some funny and comical things, which at times assume embarrassing and humiliating proportions. In certain cases in the past, ragging became the cause of serious issues, resulting in some serious mishaps.

The Government banned ragging at educational institutes. However, still this evil has been going on clandestinely, though very less. Ragging has many disadvantages. In place of making the newly admitted students feel at home, ragging incidents make new students feel scared and stressed. This stress may lead to leaving school or college and might interfere with their studies.

Educational institutes are centers of learning and knowledge; ragging should be completely prohibited. The school, college, or university administration should keep a proactive watch and punishment against the defaulters.
