Answer:

We have, 152x-378y = -74 -378x + 152y = -604 (i) .. (ii)

Adding equation (i) and (ii), we get

152x - 378y = -74 -378x + 152y = -604

-226x-226y = -678

⇒ −226(x+y) =-678 -678 -226 ⇒ x+y=

⇒ x +y = 3 ... (iii)

Subtracting equation (ii) from (i), we

get 152x - 378y = −74

-378x + 152y = 530

530x530y = 530

⇒ x - y = 1... (iv)

Adding equation (iii) and (iv), we

x+y = 3 x-y=1 2x = 4

⇒ x = 2

Putting the value of x in (iii), we get

2 + y = 3

⇒ y = 1

Hence, the solution of given system of equations is a = 2, y = 1
