Answer: E = 1.4

Explanation:-

1 is for the first shopkeeper and 2 is for the second shopkeeper.

C.P 1 = Rs 700

C.P 1 = Rs 700

discount% 1 = 30% and 6%

discount% 2 = 20% and 16%

S.P = C.P 1 - 30%  *  C.P 1

      =rs 700 - 30%  *  rs 700

       = rs 490

S.P 1= S.P -  6% * S.P

        = rs 490 -  6% * rs 490

       = Rs 460.6

S.P 3 = C.P 2 - 20%  *  C.P 1

        = rs 700 - 20%  *  rs 700

       = rs 560

S.P 2= S.P -  16% * S.P

       = rs 560 -  16% * rs 560

       = Rs 470.4

Total discount % 1 = (C.P 1 - S.p 1)/ C.P 1 *100%

                     =( rs 700- rs 460.6)/ rs 700 * 100%

                     =34.2%

Total discount % 2 = (C.P 2 - S.p 2)/ C.P 2 *100%

                     =( rs 700- rs 470.4)/ rs 700 * 100%

                     =32.8%

Total discount % 2 > Total discount % 1

Difference in discount =Total discount % 1 - Total discount % 2

                                     =34.2% - 32.8%

                                    =1.4%

Therefore , the first shopkeeper who offers 30%  and 6% discount offer better  1.4 % more discount rate than the second shopkeeper who offers 20%  and 16% discount.
