It has very basic and simple logic behind it i.e. in a mixture particles of solute take place between the particles of solvent hence it is not called a compound.

what compound has that unique property ?

ans in a compound atoms of various elements are joined with each other with a ionic or covalent bonding , that os why.

hope u are understanding the difference.

n hope it will help uh!
