15x +12y =9

12x+15y=6

take 3 common to both equation

then

5x+4y=3 1st

4x+5y=2 2nd

in 1st multiply by 4 and in 2 multiply by 5

then

20x+16y=12

20x+25y=10. sub

- - -

-9y =2

y=-2

putting the value of y in 2nd

4x-10=2

x=3

Answer:

The value of x is 7/9 and the value of y is -2/9.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

15x +12y =9

12x +15y=6

To Find : x and y.

Step by step solution:

Step I: Simplify the Equation

Given, 15x + 12y = 9.

⇒ 3 (5x + 4y) = 3 X 3

5x + 4y = 3................(i)

Again, given 12x +15y=6

⇒ 3 (4x + 5y) = 3 X 2

4x + 5y = 2...............(ii)

Step II: Multiply Equation (i) with 4, we have

4( 5x + 4y) = 4 X 3

20x + 16y = 12.............(iii)

Step III: Multiply Equation (ii) with 5, we have

⇒ 5(4x + 5y) = 5 X 2

20 x + 25y = 10...................(iv)

Step IV: Subtract Equation (iii) and (iv);

(20x + 16y) - (20 x + 25y) = 12- 10

⇒ 20x + 16y - 20 x - 25 y = 2

⇒ - 9 y = 2

y = -2/9

Step V : Put the value of y in equation (i)-

5x + 4X\frac{-2}{9} = 3

5x - \frac{8}{9} = 3

5x = 3 + \frac{8}{9}

5x = 35/9

x = 7/9

So, the value of x is 7/9 and the value of y is -2/9.
