16. 2ml of sodium hydroxide solution is added to a few pieces of
granulated Zinc metal taken in a test tube. When the content are
warmed, a gas evolves which is bubbled through a soap solution
before testing. Write the equation of the chemical reaction
involved and the test to detect gas. Name the gas which will be
evolved when the same metal reacts with solution of strong acid.

Answer:

First of all take a one test tube and add the some amount of sodium hydroxide and few pieces of granulated zinc metal

following reaction as follows ,

NaOH + Zn ---------> (heat)---> Na2ZnO2 + H2

amount of sodium hydroxide = 2 ml

when sodium hydroxide reacts with granulated zn metal ,it produces the. sodium zincate ion and hydrogen gas

sodium zincate = Na2ZnO2

now hydrogen gas is bubbled through a soap solution ,

Now let the strong acid be HCl

Hydrochloric acid is reacts with zinc metal and gives zinc chloride and hydrogen gas .

following reaction as follows ,

HCl + Zn ------> Zncl2 + H2

when the pH of salt is 14

Now let the salt is NaCl

sodium chloride reacts with ammonia , water , and carbon dioxide , it produces sodium bicarbonate and ammonium chloride

HERE the salt must be sodium hydrogen carbonate ( sodium bicarbonate)

chemical formula = Na2HCO3

following reaction as follows ,

NaCl + H2O + NH3 + CO2 --------> NH4Cl +

NaHCO3( sodium bicarbonate)

Hope it helps to u :)
