Step-by-step explanation:

16(3x-5) -10(4x-8) =40

48x-80 - 40x - 80 = 40

48x - 40x = 40+80+80

8x = 200

x = 200/8

x = 25

Question : Solve :  16(3x - 5) - 10(4x - 8) = 40

→To find : The value of x ?

→Solution:

⇒ 16(3x - 5) - 10(4x - 8) = 40

⇒ 48x - 80   - 40x - 80 = 40

⇒ 48x - 40x - 80 + 80 = 40

⇒ 8x = 40         ( - 80 and + 80 get cancelled)

⇒ x = ⁴⁰⁄₈

⇒ x = 5

∴ The value of x is 5

⇔Verification:

⇔ 16(3x - 5) - 10(4x - 8) = 40

⇔ 16(3(5) - 5) - 10(4(5) - 8) = 40

⇔ 16(15 - 5) - 10(20 - 8) = 40

⇔ 16(10) - 10(12) = 40

⇔ 160 - 120 = 40

⇔ 40 = 40

∴L.H.S = R.H.S

↔The value of x is 5.
