Answer:

A= P(1+x)^5

here A/P= 2

So (1+x)^5= 2

Taking logirthm we get

5 x log (1+x) = log2

So log(1+x) = (log2)/5

= 0.3010/5 = 0.0602

Therefore (1+x)= 10^(0.0602)= 1.1487

So x= 0.1487

So the rate of interest of 14.87% doubles the amount in 5- years.

================================= Number of years required for the sum to become 6- times is

A= P(1+0.1487)ⁿ

here A/P = 6,

then n= (log6)÷log (1.1487)

So n= 12.927- years.

So in 12- years 11- months & 3- days the amount will become 6- times the principal.
