The number of hours required in which the reservoir will be empty is 60 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A water reservoir is 12 m long, 9m wide, and 6m high.

Assume that the reservoir is full of water.

The water was pumped out at the rate is 180 liters per minute,

To Find:

The number of hours required in which the reservoir will be empty.

Formula Used:

Volume of reservoir  V= p\times q\times r      --------------- formula no.01.

Where  p= length of reservoir

            q =width of reservoir

             r= height of the reservoir

The water pumped out at the rate M=\frac{V}{t}   --------------formula no.02

Where   V= Volume of a reservoir

             t = The number of hours required in which the reservoir will be empty.

Solution:

As given-  a water reservoir is 12 m long, 9m wide, and 6m high. Assume that the reservoir is full of water.

      p =12 meter, q= 9meter and r = 6 meter

Putting the value of p,q, and r in formula no.01.

Volume of reservoir V= 12 \times 9 \times6

                                      = 648 \ meter^{3}

As given - the water was pumped out at the rate is 180 liters per minute.

M=180\ liter/minute = 180\times 0.001 \times 60\ meter^{3}/hours

                                     = 10.8 meter^{3} /hours

Putting value of M and V in formula no.02.

10.8=\frac{648}{t}

t=\frac{648}{10.8}

   =60 \ hours

Thus, the number of hours required in which the reservoir will be empty is 60 hours.
