In a family, the age of the father is 10 years more than twice the age of the son. The age of the
mother is 10 years less than three times the age of the daughter. The father is 6 years older than
the mother and the daughter is 2 years younger than the son. Find the ages of all the members of
the family.​

let age of father , mother,son, daughter be a,b,x,y respectively

given,

a=10+2x

b=3y-10

a=6+b

y=x-2

so, a=a means 10+2x=6+b

=4+2x=b

now, y=x-2. and b=3y-10,so substituting value of y we get,

3(x-2) -10=b

gives 3x-6-10=b

but we know 4+2x is also=b

therefore 3x-16=4+2x

which gives x=20

so y = x-2=20-2=18

so, b = 3y -10 = 3*18-10=54-10=44

and a =6+b = 44+6=50
