We will use basic rules of unitary method to solve this question and arrive at the answer.

Assumption: Net book of each buy is equal

Net bill of 16 boys = Rs. 114.40
By unitary method,
Net bill of 1 boy = Rs. ( 114.40 / 16 )
=> Net bill of 1 boy = Rs. 7.15

Since, a boy pays for himself and and 5 others, in total he pays for six, including himself.

Net bill of six boys = Rs. 7.15 * 6
=> Net bill of six boy = Rs. 42.9

The contribution of the boy = Rs. 42.9

\underline{\underline{\textsf{Solution :}}}

\textsf{Given that,}

\textsf{total bill ( R ) = Rs 114.40}

\textsf{total number of boys ( N ) = 16}

\textsf{So, bill to be paid by each boy be}

= \textsf{Rs}\:\dfrac{\textsf{R}}{\textsf{N}}

= \textsf{Rs}\:\dfrac{\textsf{114.40}}{\textsf{16}}

= \textsf{Rs 7.15}

\textsf{When a boy will pay for himself}
\textsf{and 5 others,he actually will}
\textsf{pay for ( 1 + 5 ) = 6 boys}

\textsf{Thus, total bill paid by him only}

= \textsf{Rs ( 6 * 7.15 )}

= \underline{\textsf{Rs 42.90}}
