(AB)² + (BC)² = (AC)²

8² + 6² = (AC)²

(AC)² = 100  

Ac = 10 cm

Since BM divides the side AC in two parts AM and CM.

So, we have two isosceles triangles formed which are Δ ABM and Δ BMC.

Therefore the two triangles having the common side as 5 cm.  

So, the length of BM is 5 cm.
