  • Time taken to travel 16m more after first 4 seconds = 2 seconds

The average velocity of the given object

Solution:

We know,   Velocity = Displacement ÷ Time

                        V=\frac{x}{t}      where, x= displacement

                                                   t = time

                  Average Velocity = Total displacement ÷ Total time

      V_{av} = Δx ÷ Δt        where,  Δx = Final displacement - Initital displacement

                                                  Δt = Final time - Initial time

Total displacement = 16m + 16m = 32m

Total time taken = 4 seconds + 2 seconds = 6 seconds

V_{av} = 32m ÷ 6 seconds = 5.33 m/s

Thus the average velocity of the given object is 5.33m/s
