Let the number = x

according to the problem given ,

16 more than eight of x = 24 more than 6 times

of x

8x + 16 = 6x + 24

8x- 6x = 24 - 16

2x = 8

x = 8/ 2

x = 6

Therefore ,

required number = x = 6
