Given:

  • C_p-C_v  = 300 J/Kg K
  • \frac{C_p}{C_v} = 1.4

To Find:

  • The value of C_p.

Solution:

It is already given that,

C_p-C_v=300  → {equation 1}

\frac{C_p}{C_v} = 1.4 ⇒ C_p = 1.4C_v { cross-multiplying 1.4 with C_v}

Substitute the value of C_p  in equation 1. We get,

1.4C_v-C_v = 300 { subtracting the terms in LHS}

0.4C_v  = 300

C_v = 300/0.4 = 750

Now substitute the value of C_v again in equation 1 to get the value of C_p

C_p - 750 = 300

C_p = 300 + 750  { adding the terms}

C_p = 1050 J/Kg K

∴ The value of C_p = 1050 J/Kg K. (option A)
