Answer:

The dimensions of the rectangular box are - Length = 8 m , breadth = 12 m and height = 16 m.

Given that the length , breadth and height of the rectangular box are in the ratio 2:3:4.

Let the length of the box be x.

Breadth = 3x/2 , height = 4x/2 = 2x

Surface area of the rectangular box = 2(x × 3x/2 + x × 2x + 2x × 3x/2)

= 2(13x²/2)

= 13x²

Cost of covering the box at the rate Rs. 8 per m² = 8 × 13x²

Cost of covering the box at the rate Rs. 9.5 per m² = 9.5 × 13x²

Difference between the two rates = Rs. 1248

=> 9.5 × 13x² - 8 × 13x² = 1248

=> 19.5x² = 1248

=> x² = 64

=> x = 8 m

Length = 8 m , breadth = 12 m and height = 16 m
