Solution :-

Given ,

  • Work done = 160J
  • Force acted = 20N

We need to find ,

  • Distance travelled = ?

As we know that ,

  • Work (W) = Force (F) × Distance (S)

Substituting known values we have ,

⇒ W = F × S

⇒ 160 = 20 × S

⇒ 160 ÷ 20 = S

⇒ S = 16 ÷ 2

Distance (S) = 8 m

Hence, distance travelled by the object = 8 m

  • 160J of work is done when a force of 20 N is applied on an object. Calculate the distance through which the object moves and state its direction.

\underline{\underline{\sf{\maltese\:\:Given}}}

  • Work Done = 160 J
  • Force Applied = 20 N

\underline{\underline{\sf{\maltese\:\:To \:\:Find}}}

  • Calculate the distance through which the object moves and state its direction.

\underline{\underline{\sf{\maltese\:\:Answer}}}

  • Distance (S) = 8 m

\underline{\underline{\sf{\maltese\:\:Calculations}}}

Work done = F × s = Fs cosx

  • x is the angle between F and s vector

x = 0° (As it in straight line)

  • Since no angle is given, avoid Work done = Fs cosx

So :

Work done = F × s

⇒ 160 J = F × s

⇒ 160 J = 20 N × s

⇒ s = 160 J/ 20 N

⇒ s = 8 m

∴ Distance (S) = 8 m
