Correct Question :-

  • 165 litres of oil was divided in the ratio 3:8. Find how many  litres each part would have?

Given :-

  • 165 litres of oil was divided in the ratio 3:8.

To Find :-

  • Find how many  litres each part would have?

Solution :-

  • Let the quantity of oil in two parts be 3x L and 8x L.

  • 3x + 8x = 11x = Total Oil

= 11x = 165

= x = {\sf{\dfrac{165}{11}}} = 15

  • ∴ 3x = 3 x 15 = 45; 8x = 8 x 15 = 120

Ans. 165 L was divided into 45 L and 120 L.

{\large{\underline{\boxed{\pink{\bf{Given :}}}}}}

  • Liters of Petrol = 165 liters.
  • Divided in the ratio of 3 : 8

{\large{\underline{\boxed{\pink{\bf{To  \:  \: find  :}}}}}}

  • How many Liters of petrol does each part would have?

{\Large{\underline{\boxed{\red{\bf{Solution  :}}}}}}

Assume that :-

  • Ratio be in x form.

We have :-

  • 3x and 8x liters of petrol.

So, according to the question:-

 \\ {\large{\bf{\implies{3x + 8x = 165}}}}

\\{\large{\bf{\implies{11x = 165}}}}

 \\ {\large{\bf{\implies{x =  \frac{165}{11} }}}}

 \\ {\large{\underline{\boxed{\blue{\bf{x = 15}}}}}}

Liters of petrol does each part would have is :-

{\Large{\sf{\leadsto{3x}}}} \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: {\Large{\sf{\leadsto{3 \times 15}}}} \\  {\Large{ \underline{ \boxed{ \green{ \bf{\leadsto{45 \: liters}}}}}}}

{\Large{\sf{\leadsto{8x}}}} \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: {\Large{\sf{\leadsto{8 \times 15}}}} \\  {\Large{ \underline{ \boxed{ \green{ \bf{\leadsto{120 \: liters}}}}}}}

So, each part would have 45 and 120 Liters respectively.

VERIFICATION:-

Total petrol = Value of 3x + Value of 8x

165 = 45 + 120

165 = 165

So, LHS = RHS

So, our answer 45 and 120 is correct answer.
