16m⁵-144m³

16m³(m²-9)

16m³(m²-3²)

using identity: -b²= (a+b)(a-b)

16m³(m+3)(m-3)

hope it helps..

Question:

Factorise using identity.

a)16m⁵-144m³

Solution:

16m⁵-144m³

=16m²-m³-144m³

Taking m³ common,

=m³(16m²-144)

=m³( (4m)²- (12)² )

Using a² -b² =(a+b)(a-b)

Here, a = 4 and b = 12.

=m³(4m+12)(4m-12)

        ↑           ↑

Both have 4 as a common factor.

=m³×4(m+3)×4(m-3)

=m³×4×4(m+3)(m-3)

=16m³(m+3)(m-3)

∴The factorisation of 16m⁵-144m³ using identity = 16m³(m+3)(m-3) .
