Given linear equation in one

variable y is ,

17 - 2y = 35

subtract 17 both sides of the equation,

we get,

=> 17 - 2y - 17 = 35 - 17

=> -2y = 18

divide each term with ( -2 ) , we get

=> [ (-2y)/(-2) ] = 18/(-2)

=> y = -9
