Given info : A solution is prepared by dissolving 10g of sodium chloride in 40g of water.

To find : the mass by mass percentage of this solution is ...

solution : a/c to question,

A solution is prepared by dissolving 10g of sodium chloride in 40g of water.

∴ mass of solute ( sodium chloride) = 10g

mass of solvent ( water ) = 40g

∵ mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent

                              = 10g + 40g = 50g

now the percentage by mass of this solution = mass of solute/mass of solution × 100

  = 10/50 × 100

  = 20%

therefore the mass/mass percentage of this solution is 20%.
