Let o be the centre of the circle.

Draw ox perpendicular distance from center o to the chord AB

AX + XB=AB

2 AX= AB

2 AX = 3o cm (given :AB=30cm

AX=30/2

AX=15 cm

AO+OD=AD

2 AO= AD

2AO= 34 cm ( given:AD=34cm

AO=34/2

AO=17 cm

OX =root over of (AO)^2 ‐ (AX)^2

=Root over of (17)^2 ‐ (15)^2

=root over of 289 ‐225

=root over of 64

=8 cm

so ,the answer is 8cm
