compounds estimated to be about three million. Why is this property not
exhibited by other elements of this group ? Explain.

Explanation:

This is because carbon shows catenation and tetra-valency which is not shown in other elements. Carbon is the only element that can combine in continuous chain to form a large compound. Due to this it shares electrons thus forming large compounds.
