Solution

Given :-

  • Damodar is 26 years older than his son
  • In four years, his age will be twice the age of his son.

Find :-

  • present age of Son

Explanation

Let,

  • Present age of Damoder = x years
  • Present age of Son = y years

Case 1.

==> x = y + 26

==> x - y = 26 ______________(1)

Case 2.

==> (x + 4) = 2 × (y + 4)

==> x - 2y = 8 - 4

==> x - 2y = 4 ______________(2)

Subtract equ(1) & equ(2)

==> -y + 2y = 26 - 4

==> y = 22

Keep in equ(1)

==> x - 22 = 26

==> x = 26 + 22

==> x = 48

Hence

  • Present age of son will be = 22 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

let the age of son be= x

age of damodar will be =x+26

now it is given that in four years means after four years damodar age will be twice the age of his son.

so we will add 4 on both sides as it is given in four years so equation becomes

x+4=x+26+4

now after that it is mentioned that his age will be twice age of his son

x+26+4 =2(x+4) as it is mentioned twice greater

by solving these equations

x+30 = 2x+8

2x-x =30-8

x = 22. is the final answere.
