Given:

(a). 16,000 among Asha and Usha in the ratio 5:3

(b). 37500 among three friends Harsh, Ayush and Dheeraj in the ratio 3:4:5

To find:

Divide the following in the given ratio.

Solution:

Case (a):

Total amount = Rs. 16000

Ratio = 5 : 3

Therefore,

Asha's share = \frac{5}{5+3} \times 16000 = \frac{5}{8}  \times 16000 = 10000

Usha's share = \frac{3}{5+3} \times 16000 = \frac{3}{8}  \times 16000 = 6000

Thus, after dividing 16000 in the given ratio Asha gets Rs. 10000 and Usha gets Rs. 6000.

Case (b):

Total amount = Rs. 37500

Ratio = 3 : 4 : 5

Therefore,

Harsh's share = \frac{3}{3 + 4+ 5} \times 16000 = \frac{3}{12}  \times 37500 = 9375

Ayush's share = \frac{4}{12}  \times 37500 = \frac{1}{3} \times 37500 = 12500

Dheeraj's share = \frac{5}{12}  \times 37500 = 15625

Thus, after dividing 37500 in the given ratio Harsh gets Rs. 9375, Ayush's gets Rs. 12500 and Dheeraj gets Rs. 15625.
