• fibroblasts - these cells produce and secret fibres and matrix
• macrophages/ histiocytes - ingest cell debris , bacteria and foreign matter
• mast cells- produce histamine , heparin and serotonin
• plasma cells- produce antibodies
• white collage fibres - they are made up of collagen protein. these fibres occur in bundles , are unbranded and inelastic . boiling of it yields gelatin
• yellow elastic fibres- they are made up of elastin protein. they are branched and elastic . they remain unaffected on boiling.
