if ur question is this here's the answer cause the question u asked is absolutely incorrect and the answer should be 10..

ok so,

just write 992 as 100 - 8

and 982 as 100 - 18

its (x+a)(x+b)

which is x^2 + ( a+b) + ab

where x is 100.... a is -8.... and b is -18

just put these value in the identity

=100^2 + ( -8-18) + (-8)(-18)

=10000 - 26 + 144

=10118
