A) In a food chain producers i.e plants are eaten by primary consumers and in turn they are eaten by secondary consumers which get eaten by tertiary consumers and they get eaten by apex consumers. This is a food chain. But to maintain the food cycle it is necessary for the energy that went from the producers to the apex consumers, to again return to the producers, for this to happen decomposers come in to work. They break the components of the apex consumers into basic components which gets into soil and helps a plant to grow again and the food cycle continues to work. Therefore existence of decomposers is necessary in any biosphere.

If primary consumers don't get this energy their population will decrease which in turn decrease the population of all the consumers till apex consumers and the food cycle will diminish. Therefore producers are the base of any trophic level
