..Question..

How many rectangular tiles of 10 cm by 7 cm will be required to cover a floor 14 m bye 12 m , and what will be the cost at rs 5 per hundred tiles ?

..Answer..

Given ,

dimension of the tile = 10 cm × 7 cm

dimension of the floor = 14 m × 12 m

= (14×100) × (12×100)

= 1400 cm × 1200 cm

cost of tiling per hundred tile = rs 5

° Required Answer :-

=> area of the tile = l × b

= ( 10 × 7 )

= 70 cm²

Again ,

=> area of the room = l × b

= ( 1400 × 1200 )

= 1680000 cm²

° no. of tiles required to fill the room =>

= 1680000 / 70

= 168000 / 7

= 24000

° no. of tiles required = 24000

=> We are given that ,

> cost of tiling per 100 tile = rs 5

> cost of tiling 1 tile = rs 5 / 100

= rs 1/20

° cost of tiling 24000 tiles = 24000 × 1/20

= 2400 × 1/2

= 1200 × 1

= rs 1200
