Given:-

→ Power of the pump = 2 kW

→ Volume of water = 1000 L

→ Height = 50m

→ Density of water = 1 kg/L

→ Acceleration due to gravity = 10m/

To find:-

→ Time taken by the pump to lift given

volume of water.

Solution:-

Firstly, let's calculate the mass of water to be lifted :-

=> Mass = Volume × Density

=> Mass = 1000 L × 1 kg/L

=> Mass = 1000 kg

Now, let's convert the power from

kW to W.

=> 1 kW = 1000 W

=> 2 kW = 2(1000)

=> 2000 W

We know that :-

P = mgh/t

Where:-

P is the power.

m is mass of the body.

g is acceleration due to gravity.

h is height

t is time taken

=> 2000 = 1000×10×50/t

=> 2000t = 500000

=> t = 500000/2000

=> t = 250 s

Thus, time taken by the pump is

250 seconds.
