Option A

Given that,

➜ Power of the Bulb = 60 W

➜ Potential Difference of the circuit line = 240 V

We need to find the current drawn by the bulb.

Using the formula:

Power = V × I

Where,

  • V = Potential Difference
  • I = Current

⇒ 60 = 240 × I

⇒ I = 60/240

⇒ I = 1/4

I = 0.25 A

Hence, Option (a) is correct.

More Information :-

Potential Difference is the difference between the electric potential ( which is equal to the amount of work done in moving a unit charge from infinity to that point ) of two points.

V = I R

Where,

  • I = Current
  • R = Resistance

Power is the amount of energy consumed per unit time.

In terms of electricity,

Power = V × I

and,

Total Energy consumed for a time t, E= P × t

Where, P = Power

 \bf \huge \red {answer : }

we know that:

 \bf \huge \fbox \green{ \: V \: = \: IR \: }

V=Voltage (or) potential difference

I=Current

R=Resistance

Multiplying both side by I

VI=I×IR

P=I×V

So,

 \bf \huge \fbox \pink{ \:  \: I  \: =  \:  \:  \frac{P}{V} \:  \:  }

 \bf \huge \implies \frac{60}{240} w \:  \:  \\  \\ \bf \huge \implies0.25 \: ampere
