17. In a newly constructed park which is situated in the heart of city Hyderabad, and
architect has formed a structure in the given shape. The shape has a cuboid, which
is standing on the two cylindrical beams. The dimensions of the cuboid are 1.5m,
3m and 0.5m. The dimensions of the cylinders are of height 2m and diameter 0.6m
(use n=3.14)
a) As the structure is made from the concrete, how much volume of
concrete is required to make the cuboidal shape?
b) What is the formula for calculating the lateral surface area of cylinder?
c) What is the volume of two cylinders?
d) If the cuboid needs to be painted red, how much area is needed to be
painted?

let length = 5x

breadth = 4x

height = 2x

TSA = 1216 Cm²

now... TSA of cuboid = 2(lb+bh+hl)

1216 = 2(5x*4x +4x*2x* + 2x*5x)

1216 = 2(20x² + 8x² +10 x²)

1216 = 2(38x2)

1216 = 76 x²

1216/76 = x²

16 = x²

4 = x

so.. length= 5x = 4*5 = 20 cm

breadth = 4x = 4*4 = 16 cm

height= 2x = 4*2 = 8cm

so.. volume will be = l*b*h

20*16*8

architect has formed a structure in the given shape. The shape has a cuboid, which

is standing on the two cylindrical beams. The dimensions of the cuboid are 1.5m,

3m and 0.5m. The dimensions of the cylinders are of height 2m and diameter 0.6m

(use n=3.14)

a) As the structure is made from the concrete, how much volume of

concrete is required to make the cuboidal shape?

b) What is the formula for calculating the lateral surface area of cylinder?

c) What is the volume of two cylinders?

d) If the cuboid needs to be painted red, how much area is needed to be

painted?let length = 5x

breadth = 4x

height = 2x

TSA 1216 Cm²

1216 = 2(5x*4x +4x*2x* + 2x*5x)

1216 = 2(20x ^ 2 + 8x ^ 2 + 10x ^ 2)

1216 = 2(38x2)

1216 = 76x ^ 2

1216/76 = x ^ 2

16 = x ^ 2

4 = xso.. length= 5x = 4*5 = 20 cm

breadth = 4x = 4*4 = 16 cm

height= 2x = 4*2 = 8cm

so.. volume will be = 1*b*h
