(I) (c). D has the maximum optical density.
(II) (d) A has maximum speed of light
(III) Refractive index is maximum for (d) D.
(IV) (c) D>A is correct.
What is refractive index?
- Refractive index of a medium is defined as the ratio of speed of light in vacuum to the speed of light in that medium.
- Medium with greater optical density has high refractive index and the one with less optical density has lower refractive index.
- Medium with high optical density will lower the speed of light and medium with low optical density will have greater speed of light.
- So, medium in which the angle of refraction is lowest, will have the maximum optical density.
