17. Pardeep a Export-import factory owner wants to thank all his workers by gifting two types of decorated spherical

ball. The diameters of the spheres are (2a + 5)cm and (4a + 6)cm respectively. Each ball is to be packed in a right

circular cylindrical boxes, which just encloses a sphere as shown in figures.

(a) If the height of the cylinder I is 21cm then value of a is

(i) 7cm (ii) 8cm (iii) 9cm (iv) 10cm

(b) If the height of cylinder II is 42cm, then the value of a is

(i) 8cm (ii) 7cm (iii) 6cm (iv) 9cm

(c) In the figure I, what is the CSA of a sphere?

(i) 1286 cm2

(ii) 1386 cm2

(iii) 1486cm2

(iv) 1586cm2

(d) Write the formula to find the volume of cylinder.

(i) πr

2

h (ii) πrl (iii) 2πrh (iv) πr (r+l)

(e) in the given figure II, what is the CSA of a sphere?

(i) 4545cm2

(ii) 5544cm2

(iii) 6655cm2

(iv) 5566cm2

Answer:

(a) 2a+5=21

2a= 21-5=16

a = 16/2 = 8 cm

(b) 4a+6= 42

4a= 36

a= 36/4= 9 cm

(c) CSA = 4pi r^2

= 4*22/7*21/2*21/2= 21*3*22= 1386 cm^2

(d) pi r^2 h

As it is a case based type question you need to answer 4 bits

Thank you
