(i).          y=x+15

(ii).         y=43

Step-by-step explanation:

Let  smaller number, x ,and larger number ,y,

y-x=15        (1) given

(i).

Expression for larger number is

y=x+15

(ii).

y+x=71       (2)     given

add (i) and (ii) equation

(i)+(ii)

y-x+y+x=15+71

2y=86

y=43

larger number is 43    and smaller number is 28

x=y-15

x=43-15=28

i) The expression for the larger number is (15 - x).

ii) The expression for the larger number is (71 - x).

Step-by-step explanation:

17) . i) Given,

The smaller number = x

∴ The  larger number =  (15 - x)

Thus, the expression for the larger number is (15 - x).

17) . ii) Given,

The smaller number = x

∴ The  larger number =  (71 - x)

Thus, the expression for the larger number is (71 - x).
